Most shorebird records and ornithological knowledge along the Colombian Caribbean coast is concentrated inthese two IBAs (i.e. Ruiz-Guerra et al. 2008, 2012). However, there are both new and previously overlooked records in the citizen science epository eBird (http://www.ebird.org) that suggest several migratoryspecies could merit a different status, or are more common than currently thought. We reviewed existing records and present new records of five shorebird species: Long-billed Curlew Numenius americanus, Hudsonian Godwit Limosa haemastica, Stilt Sandpiper Calidris himantopus, Buff-breasted Sandpiper C. subruficollis and Red Phalarope Phalaropus fulicarius.
