Range Description: This species ranges from the Pacific slope of southern Costa Rica to Colombia and Venezuela in northern South America (Dixon and Kofron 1983, Savage 2002). In Panama, the elevational range extends from sea level to 700 meters (Jaramillo et al. 2010). In Colombia, the range includes the Cordillera Central and Valle de Magdalena, at elevations of 225-1,040 meters (Llano-Meija et al. 2010); also Casanare (Angarita-Sierra et al. 2013) and the Caribbean coast (ICN-R and MHUA reptile collections). In Venezuela, the species occurs from the Cordillera de Mérida and Cordillera de la Costa at elevations of 0-1,600 meters (Dixon and Kofron 1983). There is a record for Ecuador from a specimen found in plant pots imported from Colombia (Dixon and Kofron 1983).
